Measuring Progress with KPI Dashboards

Consequently, the hospital introduced a new system to make it easier to measure care and outcomes. Early on, the new data showed that a higher than expected number of chest X-rays were administered to asthma patients. After providing clinical staff with a healthcare dashboard and education, there was a 15% drop in unnecessary chest X-rays.

Because of this success, Texas Children’s Hospital expanded the use of dashboards and analytics to reduce the length of stay and how long it takes for patients to get the appropriate asthma medication from when they enter the ER.

By leveraging data analytics, the hospital can clearly see how care impacts the outcomes of patients with certain diseases such as asthma, diabetes, scoliosis and heart failure.*
